"The future of life on Earth depends on our ability to see the sacred, where others see only the common."

John Denver

We have spent many hours getting to know where the local wildlife are in our area and when is the best time of day to see them.  Sometimes you will see wildlife in the parks, but often the high traffic, especially during the busy seasons, scares them off into the bushes or higher ground.  Our area is much less travelled and we personally often see more animals closer to home than we do in the parks.  And if it’s birds you’re looking to see, our yard is frequently visited by quite a variety of birds all year long.  While during the Spring and Summer months, our forests are blanketed with over 40 different wildflowers throughout the season!  And often we are even graced with the presence of deer and/or owls right in our backyard at our relaxing Back to Nature Retreat!

Whether you’re a photographer looking to capture a beautiful image of wildlife or landscape, or perhaps you’re just interested in going for a drive to see the beauty of nature, or maybe you would like to see some of the iconic places in the Rockies, we will put together a custom package to suit your needs.  We also have several themed packages for you to consider.

Photo Tours are 2-8 hours of time, designated to teaching you tips and tricks, while offering you the opportunity to photograph various subjects.  Subjects to be photographed vary by time of day, location of workshop, and season of year. Transportation will be provided for Photo Tour Packages of up to 3 people.  Groups of more than 3 participants are welcome, with transport via carpooling.

These beautiful, white “Ghosts of the Prairies” are only seen for a few months in this area of the province, so bundle up and be awed by their unique beauty!  You might just see a fox or a coyote in your travels too, along with deer and moose!

<p style=”text-align: center;”><img class=”alignnone size-medium wp-image-5389″ src=”×200.jpg” alt=”spring-in-the-marsh” width=”300″ height=”200″ /></p>
After a long Winter hibernating, this is the time the black bears and grizzlies come out of their dens in search of food!  Usually mid-June is our prime day trip time to see these majestic bruins – certainly a sight we never get tired of!  This is also the time we see the return of the sandhill cranes and the blue herons to this area, as well as the beautiful and vibrant blue birds!

Summer is when you are most likely to see our babies, which could include deer and their adorable fawns with their distinguishing white marks, or the cow moose with their long legged calves, or even owls and their baby owlets!  This is also the time you’ll see the deer bucks and the bull moose with their antlers covered in what seems like velvet as their antlers begin to grow in preparation of the Autumn Rut!

Big Game Rut in Autumn

<p style=”text-align: center;”><strong>Big Game Rut in Autumn<img class=”size-medium wp-image-5403 aligncenter” src=”×200.jpg” alt=”” width=”300″ height=”200″ /></strong></p>
Early morning tours offer the best chances for catching the majestic deer bucks and bull moose in the rutting (mating) season, as they fight for their mate!  Their majestic racks and their powerful bodies in their prime is a sight to behold.  Stan has spent many hours looking for these big boys and never gets tired of seeing, watching, or of course, photographing them!

<p style=”text-align: center;”><img class=”alignnone size-medium wp-image-5481″ src=”×200.jpg” alt=”” width=”300″ height=”200″ /></p>
This day trip will take you to some of the iconic sights of the beautiful mountain town of Banff, as well as to some of the not so busy tourist sights. If you are looking for a quieter touring opportunity than a large bus tour, this day trip and photography opportunity is for you! We are even happy to arrange some shopping time for you.

This 6-8 hour trip will take you deep into the wilderness of the Alberta foothills, where these amazing wild horses roam.  An early morning departure allows for a better opportunity of seeing these horses, as well as perhaps seeing a beautiful sunrise!  Deer, coyotes, elk, moose and bears may also make an appearance depending on the time of year!

Where the Dinosaurs Roam

A trip to the unique scenery of the Drumheller Badlands any time of year is worthwhile! You can almost visualize the dinosaurs roaming this area! This day trip includes a visit to the famous <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Tyrell Museum</a> with stops to some unique local attractions along the way.

(Please note, tour price does not include museum admission.)

We are also in the process of adding additional package themes, such as a tour of the Oilfields, Yesteryears of Black Diamond, and the unique Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions from Stettler Alberta, to Big Valley.  If there is another area that is of interest to you, just let us know and we would be happy to look into arranging the opportunity for you.
